This Spring and Summer, the Norwich Rink will be hosting a number of Skills Clinics run by Bernie Cassell. Bernie brings the highest level of experience to these sessions and, in addition to him having run our skills night on a monthly basis, works with players of all abilities.

Of particular note is the week long Summer Camp the week of August 9th to the 13th. The Zamboni Griil
by posted 11/05/2009

Members,

As many of you already know the Zamboni Grill is in full operation at the Norwich RInk. They have also recently become a sponsor of SECYH. As part of that sponsorship, the proprietors have asked that we remind our members that it is the rink policy to not allow outside food or drink inside the facility.  The staff at the Zamboni Grill has worked hard to maintain consistent hours, quality food and fair pricing. They also will be happy to cater for any team events at the rink. Feel free to ask them about team parties or birthday celebrations. As a sponsor of our organization I am hopeful that our members will take advantage of the opportunity to enjoy the Zamboni Grill's selections. Thank you!

Sincerely,

Paul Santamaria
President-SECYH

H1N1 Virus Precautions
by posted 09/30/2009

A concern has been raised about the spread of the H1N1 virus or Swine Flu that, until now, SECYH has neglected to address. First off, the league will continue to make water bottles available for team practices and games but the league is encouraging all players to bring their own. Ideally it would be unique in appearance with the player's name on it and it should not be used by anyone else. I am asking all coaches and parents to reiterate this message to your players. The following are standard recommendations from the CDC to help prevent the contagion:

  • Cover your nose and mouth when you cough or sneeze
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water or alcohol-based hand cleaners
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth
  • Try to avoid close contact with people who are sick
  • Stay home if you are sick until you have been symptom-free for 24 hours

Remember, those with compromised immune systems (e.g., asthmatics) are the most at risk. That includes those that may be excessively tired from physical activity. By being aware of the risks and taking some simple precautions, it will go a long way to keeping all of our players healthy throughout the season.
